At last! Something to put in the pointscore.  Not much, but at least it's a start.  Click here...

We have been asked to pass this information onto club members. Please read the related flyer in regards to Marine Weather Seminars that are being held to teach people how to read the weather forecast easier. There is one being held at the Shellharbour Workers Club. This may interest some of you, if not maybe you know someone else who would be interested in the seminar.

From NSWGFA:
As decided by Delegates at the NSWGFA AGM recently, the new rule concerning circle hooks states:
CIRCLE HOOKS ONLY are permitted to be used for live baiting and trolling natural baits. NB: no points to be scored for any species caught while using live baits and/or trolling natural baits with “J” hooks. (rule comes into effect on 29th July 2010)
This rule will come into effect on 29th July 2010, could you please ensure that you pass this information onto your members.

More from NSWGFA:
We have been advised that Danielle Ghosn, who is the current GFAA Junior Tournament State Coordinator for NSW, due to work and university commitments will not be re-nominating for this position in October at the GFAA Conference. Danielle was the inaugural National Coordinator, a position which she held for a number of years, and due to her study commitments at that time she took on the role of State Coordinator which she has held for a number of years.
On behalf of NSWGFA I know that you would want me to thank Danielle for the time she has given over this long period to our junior & small fry anglers, it is very much appreciated.
NSWGFA now calls for nominations for the position of NSW State Coordinator - GFAA Junior Tournament. Please read the guide for State Coordinators, which will give you an idea of what is required. If you wish to discuss this further, please give Pat a call.

June Southern Zone results now posted.  Click here....
Needless to say, Shellharbour scored ZERO points, but then so did every other Club except Batemans Bay.
With no Yellowfin to speak of and Makos STILL off the menu, winter fishing is pretty much a waste of time.

December Southern Zone Results
Can you believe Shellharbour didn't have a single capture or T & R to submit for December.  That's a first since I've been Club Recorder. However, looking at the results it would appear we weren't the only ones with a poor month.  January isn't looking much better at this stage and with the upcoming ban on Mako captures, things could get even worse.

Club Pointscore update

16th Dec 2009
November Southern Zone
We didn't do so well in capture, scoring only a single point.  That now puts us 2nd behind Shoalhaven by 23 points.  A bit of catching up to do, but we can do it!
On a better note we jointly lead T & R with Batemans Bay.  This is largely due to Finally's recent Tag of a Striped marlin.

Congratulations Rhiannon Halling
Rhiannon, 10 years old and a Club Small Fry Member, captured this 118.1Kg Mako on Saturday.  On Dad's boat Anticipation, and ably assisted by Aiden and Ditmar, the capture is a pending NSW and Australian record for a Small Fry Angler.

19th Oct 2009
September Southern Zone results have been posted.  What a difference a month can make.  Shellharbour took a huge leap in the rankings and now only trail Shoalhaven Heads in capture by a single point.  This was helped along with an adjustment to the June results, following a disqualification of a Bermagui capture.  In boat points, I have Reckless leading in capture by 1 point from Reserection, with another 1 point back to Outcast (Shoalhaven Heads). Note though, my figures are UNOFFICIAL because the Zone doesn't release accumulated boat points.  From what I'm hearing of this latest weekends captures, it looks like we're maintaining the momentum.  I'm sure there will be more about the weekends exploits on the forum.

13th Oct 2009
Jervis Bay GFC have sent the entry form, rules etc for their White Sands Tournament.  They're in the web site News and Mailbox section.

Another Club Pointscore update...
Online Membership and Boat Registration along with internet banking payment facilities has been re-instated.

31st August 2009
The Club Pointscore has been updated.  The Winter comp is done and dusted but the results posted are provisional only.  I know there a a few capture sheets and tag cards still outstanding.  Don't forget, you have 28 days to submit the paperwork if you want to earn Championship Angler and Boat points.  Also, if your catch is on a Zone weekend, I need the paperwork by the 12th of the Month to get it into the Zone recorder.

It looks like there's a good response to the impromptu "September Mako Challenge" with 11 boats entered at time of writing.  When entries are all confirmed I'll start up a result sheet either on the forum or somewhere on the web site where we can see the progressive pointscore.

28th August 2009
July Southern Zone results are in and posted.

17th August 2009
Pointscore and Club Records update... Some great results, but very disappointing, that once again, capture sheets were handed in too late to make the Zone cut-off of the 14th of the Month.  Unfortunately, we missed out some great Zone points. Remember, you are fishing for the Club as well as yourselves.
News and Mailbox has been updated with items from the AGM plus the first meeting of the new Committee for the year.  Included in that report is the great news that K & R Fabrications have announced their continued support for the Club, confirming they will be the major Sponsor for the 2009/2010 year.  Please support K & R and all our Sponsors wherever you can.
Another of our Sponsors, Fergos Tackle World, have given us a preview of their upcoming sale and invited us to get in early - Check the Forum for more details.

Results of recent AGM coming soon.

20th July 2009
First months Southern Zone results are in and posted.  Having taken out 4 trophies last year, it looks like we're giving everyone a start this season with Shellharbour not recording a single point.  Not to worry, plenty of time to catch up. It's hard to compete with the big Blue Fin being caught down Bermagui way ,but maybe we can get a few Makos in local waters to get us started.

Southern Zone Calendar is also on the website although there are a few dates missing.  I'll update it as I get any new info.

HOW GOOD IS THIS......

Congratulations to all Members, and especially to Mark Halling, Jamie Reid and their crews.

In other news, NSWGFA have put out another flyer on tags.  Please read it here...

21st June 2009
Something we've been expecting is now official.
New Tag & Release rules for GFAA.  From July 1st, the current Small Pelagic tag (pink) is no longer to be used.  Instead we are to use the normal Pelagic Tag (yellow).  More importantly, and no doubt more controversial, is the new minimum length for a tagged Kingfish of 70cm. Full details here...

17th June 2009
May Southern Zone results are in and posted.  We recorded zero points for the month but so did our nearest rivals Shoalhaven Heads.
This means we win Zone capture.  Mark Halling and Anticipation should also take out Champion Boat Capture. Well done everyone.  For those that may not have noticed, a bus has been arranged to go to the Zone presentation.  I'm sure these will not be the only trophies we bring home.  Check the forum for details and join the crew for what should be a great day out.

31st March 2009
Pointscore has been updated to 31st March.  This will be the last published update for the 2008/2009 season. We have to keep some surprises for presentation night.

Don't forget - next General Meeting is next Wednesday night, 8th April, at Shellys.  We continue to receive new Memberships and enquiries from potential and wannabe Members.  The General meeting is the place to meet Members and have all your questions answered.

On the fishing front, it looks like a few Makos may be about again.  Anticipation captured 2 last weekend and Reserection boated a beast of a Mako that weighed in at 320.6 Kg.  Bad luck Jamie - just 1.5Kg short of a Club record. Jackawhy was frustrated by a good sized Tiger shark that just wouldn't take a bait.  Read all the fishing reports in the Club Forum.

Canberra have sent me all the info on their upcoming Yellowfin Tournament.  You can read and/or download it from the Tournaments page.

19th March 2009
January Southern Zone results just posted.  The scores have been adjusted over the past months, from November to February.  This follows the voluntary withdrawal of Reckless' shark from the Whitesands Tournament, which became a contentious issue, and a recent shark awarded to Outcast and the Shoalhaven Club.  The final result has actual given us a slightly bigger lead, as the the withdrawals brought another couple of Shellharbour captures into the count.  The two withdrawn captures have created a fair bit of controversy over the past couple of months and it now time to just accept what has happened and get on with the fishing.

17th March 2009
Congratulations once again to Mark Halling and the Anticipation crew on yet another maxi and Club record.  A very nice Striped Marlin weighing in at 119.3Kg on 10Kg line is a great effort.  Well done to all.  Mark now leads both Club Champion and Champion Boat Capture. Check out the latest pointscore, and the complete list of Club records.

12th March 2009
Unfortunately, the meeting scheduled for this Friday night, 13th March, has had to be postponed due to Committee Members commitments.  Watch here or on the forum for a new date.
The Club pointscore was updated yesterday...here
